መግለጫ፦	The Virginia Department of Forestry received a VLCF grant to protect Hunting Quarter Farm. The property is a Century Forest, in the same family for 135 years and currently owned and managed by the great granddaughter of the original 1890 purchaser. The property contains 268 acres of active farmland, 386 acres of managed forestland, and 219 acres of wetlands mostly in pine plantation production along Dividing Creek and Hunting Quarter Swamp. The property is one mile from Chub Hill Natural Area Preserve and the Nottoway River. An open-space easement will be held by the Virginia Department of Forestry and protect natural resources on the property with a portion remaining in forestal use in perpetuity, and 50 to 100’ forested riparian buffers along the waterways.
